Our SDGs – 4 & 17

Here at MUNers Across Borders we want to contribute in raising awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals, and keenly devote our day to the futhering of SDG Goal 4 and 17, focusing on quality education, and on global partnerships. As a day dedicated to the celebration of Model United Nations, we see ourselves hand in hand at educating people about the United Nations, its values, and promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence. Furthermore, we want to become a hub for all MUNs to be able to find others, and connect with the hundreds of thousands of MUNers who exist worldwide.

We also host a yearly SDG Quiz for all participants at our MUN Summit, find the winners of the 2022 quiz below!

Our Focus - Target 4.7

By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development

What do we do?

  • Organise global conferences raising awareness of the success Model United Nations has in teaching youth about the UN, including sharing best practices and bringing global policymakers to young people worldwide
  • Run interactive activities with these conferences, such as interactive resolutions, which aim to facilitiate the sharing of information with the UN on how youth can better be involved at the UN on all levels
  • Promote diversity and the diverse nature of MUN at all times, creating a global awareness of the ability of MUN to share ideas across borders and drive for promoting SDGs

Our Focus - Target 17.16

Enhance the global partnership for sustainable development, complemented by multi-stakeholder partnerships that mobilize and share knowledge, expertise, technology and financial resources, to support the achievement of the sustainable development goals in all countries, in particular developing countries

What do we do?

  • Aim to Connect hundreds of MUN societies, clubs, and organisations together to enhance the global partnership of MUNs and thus the sharing of knowledge between them to support the SDGs
  • Focus on developing MUN and its knowledge in developing countries, sharing best practices and encouraging discussions on the SDGs through a World Model UN Day, which we would like to see established
  •  Work with national permanent representations and policymakers to push the benefits and values of MUN, enouraging them to develop more effective ways to ensure youth participation in the UN and international bodies, helping cross-cutting SDGs
